Unfortunately readers often do judge a book by its cover – at least initially.

In designing books we are very aware that every aspect of the publication’s physical features must be taken into account. The size, paper, layout, typeface, illustration style etc. must be appropriate to the predicted readership with production tailored to the publisher’s budget.
